Nature of request
Richard de Potesgrave requests that the sum of £28 2s 4d demanded from him in the Exchequer for the farm of certain lands and tenements in Heckington which once belonged to the Templars and which he held at farm by commission of the King's father, might be allowed against £30 17s 6d owed to him in several bills of the late King's wardrobe.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that if it is found that the King owes him as much as the petition claims, he should have an allowance in this for what he owes the King.
Places mentioned
Heckington, [Lincolnshire].
People mentioned
Knights Templar (Order of the Temple)
[Edward II], King of England.
Note
From the content, this petition would seem likely to date from the early years of Edward III, although from after the death of Edward II. The petitioner is mentioned concerning unrelated matters in CCR 1327-30 p.17 and pp.50-51 (both dated 12 March 1327).
