John Lyghtfot and Simon Martyn state that, like other English merchants, they sent a ship to Harfleur to trade, believing that there was a truce between England and France, but their ship was arrested and their servants imprisoned, as happened to all the ships of English merchants there. They request letters patent to the Mayors of London and Southampton to make arrests on ships belonging to French merchants to the value of their losses.

Note
Tentatively dated to 1376 with reference to C 49/43/10, a list of petitions apparently from this year. That document is too illegible to confirm this, but the hand and the content seem appropriate to this date however.
