Nature of request
Lord Edmund makes four requests to the Chancellor:1) He requests a writ for an inquisition granted to him by the King to ascertain whether Alan Fitz John, Laurence de Neutone and John Blanke, forester of the Forest of Pickering, who are accused of the death of John Cokewald, who is accused of several crimes, killed him when they caught him in a crime and he fled, or feloniously planned to attack him.2) He requests a writ to the Treasurer to let the justices in the pleas of trespass in the Forest of Pickering have the rolls of the last eyre of Robert de Nevile there, to assist them.3) He states that the King's men from the bailiwick of St Briavels are wrongly entering the franchise of Monmouth to attach people there, and requests a remedy.4) He requests a writ of escheat for Thomas de Flyxton in the vill of Scalby.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first petition] They are to be put in prison, and afterwards there is to be an inquiry by the Sheriff and the Coroner, and it is to be returned to the King.[To second] It is to be ordered that they are to have the rolls, provided that they return them before the feast of St John.[To third] The Bailiff is to be written to about this.[To fourth] It is to be done.[On dorse] To the Chancellor.

CCR 1279-88 p.221 is dated 5 October 1283, and seems to be in response to this petition. The writ for CMI 1219-1307 no.1261 is dated 12 October 10 Edward I (1282).
