Nature of request
The attorney of John de Bretagne, Earl of Richmond, states that at the Earl's instigation, the vicar-general of the archdeacon of Richmond has begun a process in court Christian against John de Forneaux, who claims to be parson of Ainderby Steeple, who holds that church without institution and title, and who is an unsuitable person to be vicar, and that John has acquired a prohibition and protection to delay this case. He requests the King's letters to proceed in this case, notwithstanding the aforesaid prohibition and protection, as the business is wholly spiritual and cognisance belongs to Holy Church.
