Description
Petitioners
Thomas Barre, knight.
Name(s)
Barre, Thomas
Addressees
King's lords.
Nature of request
Thomas Barre states that he was appointed to go on the present expedition to France, but that through the conspiracy of John Aberhale, he and his servants were indicted of various felonies before the justices of the peace in Herefordshire on 2 March last, through an inquisition of the kinsmen, friends and allies of John Aberhale, because Thomas had sued John for various trespasses and offences committed by him; so that he and his servants cannot now go on the expedition. He asks the lords for a writ of certiorari to the justices to order the indictments into Chancery at the quindene of Easter next, to remain there until the lords have taken advice on them, and that no process should be held on them in the meantime; and if any of his servants should be arrested, that there might be a writ to get them out of prison.
