Description
Petitioners
Simon Folsom and Katherine Folsom his wife, tenants of Hilgay.
Name(s)
Folsom; Folsom, Simon; Katherine
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Simon Folsom and Katherine his wife state that nineteen years ago, when she was single, Katherine granted certain lands in Wretton to Simon and to John Bolt, so that they would re-enfeoff her with them when asked, and that Katherine afterwards married Simon. They have often asked John to re-enfeoff Katherine with the lands, but he has continued to hold them by force, and threatens them so that they do not dare to sue at common law. During Lent last the King granted them his letters under the privy seal to the Prior of Shouldham, Edmund Oldhale, Nicholas Wichynghom and Laurence Trussebut to do justice to them, but they have not dared to act. They ask that John might be ordered to come before the Chancellor to show why Katherine should not be re-enfeoffed with the lands and the profits taken from them in the meantime, and to do justice to the parties.
