Nature of request
Ryvers requests remedy because by summons of the Exchequer the sheriff of Essex wrongly distrained him because he has the same name and surname as Rivers of Ongar who owes the King various debts from the time of Henry III, for marrying Lucy and for the castle of Ongar and various other debts contained in the Great Roll of the Exchequer for the 6th year of King Henry [1221-2].
Nature of endorsement
He should have a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that if they can find by inquisition or in other manner that the petitioner is not the same person, then he should be acquitted.

Dated on the guard to 1327-32 since the petitioner died in 1332 (CFR 1327-37, p. 304). The petition must belong to the reign of Edward III as it names the King's great-grandfather as Henry.
