Description
Petitioners
? No Petitioner named
Nature of request
Fines and redemptions of the county of Cornwall taken before Martin, Spigurnel, Knoville, Belflour and la Hyde on Monday before St Gregory, 34 [Edward I, 1306]. William Wise was indicted because when Peverel ordered him to bring before him Bar and Jordan who were indicted for Heyman's murder, he allowed them to escape for 20s, because he took 5s from Gerith to maintain him in a plea of novel disseisin against Langeford and then 2s from Langeford to maintain him in the same plea against Gerith, because he, with his son Serle and many others, broke into the King's park of Kerrybullock and hunted and took what they caught to his house, because he, with his son Serle, entered the King's park of Liskeard and hunted and took what they caught, and for other transgressions against the peace. On Thursday before St Gregory Wise confessed to these transgressions and others, East hundred was taken into the King's hand and Wise was imprisoned.
Nature of endorsement
It was decided that the rolls and memoranda of the Exchequer should examined as to whether the hundred was taken into the King's hand for another reason, because in this case forfeiture was not adjudged, and concerning the restitution of his hundred justice should be done to him in Chancery.
