Description

Name(s)
Johan (John); de Barrere; de Seint Pierre, Raymond; Bidau; John
Addressees
King.
Occupation
merchant of Bayonne
Nature of request
Johan, Barrere and Seint Pierre request remedy because a merchant was imprisoned at Bruges at their suit and by Namur's command for £188 sterling which he owed to them, but was released by the echevins before they had received recompense. By an earlier petition the King's writ was sent into Flanders ordering the Count of Namur to do justice but nothing was done. They then presented a petition at the last Parliament at London to which the council answered that another writ would be sent into Flanders, but Emmerich kept the bill by which the writ should have been purchased, delaying the business. They ask that another writ be sent into Flanders or that they be provided with remedy in another manner.
Nature of endorsement
The petitioner should have a writ to the Count of Flanders.
