Gardin requests that the King grant him his land of Lowthwaite which was seised into the King's hand because each shire of England has a writ to have the lands of Scots, but he was of the King's peace on the day that his lands were taken and ever since in his service at Lochmaben, and St John, their keeper, will confirm this.1)

St John should enquire whether the land was taken into the King's hand before Gardin came to the King's peace or after, and to certify the King thereon at the next Parliament.2) Before the King.

Dated on the guard to c. 1299, with reference to Bain, vol. II, pp. 266-7, no.1042, a December 1298 order to the sheriff of Cumberland to take the petitioner's land in Lowthwaite, and p. 435, no.1634, a 1304 petition from the same petitioner requesting seisin of his land of Lowthwaite, and referring to this petition.
