Nature of request
Swineburn requests remedy because by his charter Alexander late king of Scotland granted him 10 marks yearly for life from the farms of Tynedale and estovers in all Alexander's woods in Wark in Tynedale for Swineburn's manor of Haughton, of which rent and estovers he was seised throughout the reigns of Alexander and John and when the manor of Wark was in the King's hand by John's forfeiture until the same manor came into the hand of Anthony, bishop of Durham, who ousted the petitioner from the estovers and rent and has withheld them from him for ten years.
Nature of endorsement
Hartlepool and Barton should be assigned to enquire into the petitioner's seisin and, having examined the charters and muniments for the said rent and estovers, and whether he made any remission to any of the kings of Scotland, and if he was seised at the time the king had custody of the land of Scotland, they are to return the inquisition into Chancery.
