Nature of request
The abbot and convent of Vale Royal request that whereas in response to their petition at the last Parliament held at London the King sent his letters ordering the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to pay £549 arrears of the £1000 which he assigned to the work of their church to be paid by Grey, but the treasurer only gave them £40, that this money be paid them from the farm of the bailiwick of the Peak which is not far from their abbey.
Nature of endorsement
The treasurer and barons of the Exchequer should be ordered by writ of Chancery to examine how much of the debt is in arrears and to assign the farm of High Peak to pay off the said debt, provided that certain men are assigned to oversee that the money is used in the work of their church and not put to other uses.

Dated on the guard to c. 1305, with reference to CCR 1302-7, p. 247, a 1305 order to search Grey's rolls and those of other justices of Cheshire from the time of the grant and to cause the petitioners to have full compensation elsewhere, and to CCR 1307-13, p. 478, a 1312 order to assign to the abbot of Vale Royal £80 which Walter de Waldeshef pays yearly for the farm of the manor of Ashford in the Peak, until he is satisfied for £409 due to him for the balance of £1000 granted by the late King for certain works in the abbey.
