Nature of request
Letters patent of Edward III, dated at York on 3 February 1333, granting permission for his uncle Thomas, Earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, to grant to William de Montacute the county of Carlow in Ireland and the manor of Hamstead Marshal in Berkshire, held of the king in chief, for the term of William's life, or, if he should die within fifteen years, to his executors and assigns to the end of that term, with reversion to William, son of William de Montacute and Alice, daughter of Thomas, and to the heirs of their bodies, with ultimate reversion to the heirs of the Earl.
