Nature of request
Memorandum in two parts.1) It was found in the Chancery files of Henry III that Roger Bigod held the manor of Hamstead Marshall of the King in chief by virtue of his office of marshal.2) It was found in the Chancery files of Edward I that Bigod held the manor of Hamstead Marshall by service of one knight in fee tail of the gift of the king, and that the manor is the chief manor of the marshals of England.
