The burgesses and merchants of the part of Coventry called the 'Earl's Part' request a charter of confirmation of their various privileges and customs.1)

Note
The handwriting would tend to date this petition to the first half of the fourteenth century, and the subject matter would date it to some point before Coventry's charter of incorporation in 1345. The reference to the Bishop of Worcester may date it to the period 1310-13, when Walter Reynolds was both Bishop of Worcester and Chancellor.
