[Parts of this petition are missing, and the entire sense difficult to reconstruct.]The petitioner makes two requests:1) He states that, whereas he has been in the King's service for a long time ... in the town of Le Mas d'Aire which is in the land of the men of [Labris], which the King, because of the dissension between the vill of ... and of Marsan on the other, by reason of the limitation of the King's territory of the said place, and by reason of the excess committed to the steward of your household ... of the petitioner since they invaded and killed some of his servants and three of his horses.2) He states that, at the command of the seneschal of Landes, he proceeded, as bailiff of the said land of Labris, to a certain place called Banioci ... burgess of Bayonne seized into the King's hand by his lieutenant, who knowing things would be found there, caused him to violate his command, which the said burgess with many armed and mounted men entered and ousted his lieutenant there and his servants, and the said bailiff, hearing of this, ... at least 6000 servants, and held them in the garrison for 6 nights ..., the bailiff requests that the King order the seneschal of his duchy to examine the said commission [and compensate] the said bailiff as much for his damages for the deaths of his three horses as for his expenses.
