Nature of request
The people of Montflanquin request:1) that whereas by their earlier petition to him in England which he sent to his council of Gascony for its advice it was granted to them that they could enjoy the franchises and free customs of Bordeaux, costing and trading their own wines, as all towns of Agenais ought, that is, Agen, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Penne d'Agenais, Monclar, Casseneuil, Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot, that they should enjoy these franchises;2) that the seneschal of Gascony be ordered to decide, by inspection of their customs confirmed by King Edward, if the following clause should be upheld and observed: our seneschal or his bailiffs will not order or summon anyone at question or claim unless for our own deed or a quarrel had in the said castle outside the honour of the castle concerning deeds done in the castle and its appurtenances and in the honour of the castle or concerning possessions of the castle or honour.

[On face]1) It should be dealt with by the seneschal and constable and they should make fine and have what they request.2) It should go to the seneschal and he should do justice and in his default the King should do what is incumbent.[On dorse] Executed petitions.
