Nature of request
Durant makes two requests:1) He asks that the king grant him sustenance, so that he may be able to continue his studies. During the lifetime of his brother, Raymond, who died in the King's service, he studied and advanced until he was a bachelor in law, but had to leave these studies following his brother's death.2) He requests that the King write to the Pope to ask that his brother Vidal, a monk of Saramon, may have a benefice in the priory of Daux or in the abbey of St Croix, Bordeaux, and also to ask the archbishop of Bordeaux to provide him himself with any benefice in his archbishopric.
