Description
Petitioners
Mayor, jurats and community of Bordeaux.
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The mayor, jurats and community of Bordeaux request the King's letters commanding the seneschal of Gascony, constable of Bordeaux and others who receive the customs of Bordeaux that the house of Puy-Paulin and its franchises, liberties, privileges and customs should be peaceably upheld without impediment since from time out of mind the lord of Puy-Paulin has been a burgess of Bordeaux, and as such enjoys the franchises, privileges and liberties of the town, taxing his own wine from his own vineyards for selling in taverns or loading on ships, as Grelli and his wife Assalhide do, with the exception of the imposition which the constable of Bordeaux and other customers made on them, that letters order the seneschal of Gascony, the constable and other customers of Bordeaux that the said house, couple and other lords of their franchises and liberties should enjoy their customs as their ancestors did, notwithstanding that the viscount is not a burgess of Bordeaux.
