Description
Petitioners
Roger Cliderowe of Kent, son and heir of Richard Cliderowe.
Name(s)
Cliderowe, Roger
Addressees
King, Duke of Gloucester and lords in Parliament.
Nature of request
Roger, son and heir of Richard Cliderowe, requests remedy because he was removed from the manors of Goldstone, Pirton, Kimpton and Jenningsbury, which he held by inheritance as his father's heir because his father purchased them from Clinton. By a petition presented by Clinton claiming that he had been defrauded by la Pole, a member of his council to whom he had enfeoffed various of his lands during Richard II's reign but who was now refusing to demise the lands in accordance with Clinton's wishes, la Pole was made to seal a deed granting Clinton's lands in England, Calais and elsewhere to Beauchamp and others nominated by Clinton and a letter of attorney to Cossington and others to deliver seisin of the same, by force of which the petitioner was removed from his estate contrary to the intention of the act and ordinance made in the Parliament of Westminster [in December 1421].
Nature of endorsement
Because Clinton has indented with the King in person on this journey to Le Crotoy it is agreed that nothing will be done concerning the matter contained in this petition until Clinton's return.
