Nature of request
The people in the bastide of Hastingues make many requests concerning their bastide, including that port and river bank be relieved of vessels which come in force from Bayonne, that the prices and customs of Dax be made known to the King since they are of that town's provostship and that they may have the King's letter of the great seal thereon, that Havering cause the tax and custom of their port to be taken as the abbot of Sorde did since this will increase the value of the bastide and port by over £200 yearly, that Havering cause the way of St Jake to be built from Dax to the bastide as Hastings had been ordered to do, that a bailiff for the bastide be appointed from among them, and that they may have a letter allowing them to bear arms against the King's enemies, such as Mauleon.
Nature of endorsement
This petition should be sent within the King's writ of Chancery to Havering that those of the Prince's council in those parts should certify the Prince on the contents of this petition.
