Note
The petition refers to events of the sixteenth year of Edward I (1288), but from the context and the endorsements, this would seem to be a stray plaint from the Staffordshire eyre of 1293, the other plaints for which are now in JUST 1/1553 (with further strays elsewhere). The eyre took place between 7 and 22 January 1293 in Lichfield, and 27 January and 25 February 1293 in Stafford (D. Crook, Records of the General Eyre, p.176).
