Nature of request
The abbot and convent of Langdon request that the King grant them in perpetuity certain land late of Langdon in Langdon, worth 7 marks yearly, to be held at farm, which Penchester recently acquired for the King's benefit and which the King gave to William, the Queen's tailor, to hold for life only. The church of Langdon, through recent misfortune and for lack of food, has suddenly come to such poverty that it will be necessary to disperse the canons unless it receives assistance. The petitioners have satisfied the said William for his time.1)
