King.
Nature of request
Bernard de Espinassa states that at the feast of St John the Baptist 1312 he bought from the Treasurer of the Agenais the bailiwicks of Ste Foy and Miramont, and that, without any guilt on his part, the parsons of those bailiwicks afterwards appealed to the King of France, so that he has been unable to exercise jurisdiction there, and was embroiled in an expensive legal case to protect the King's right; and he has also sustained other expenses on the King's behalf. He asks that some good man, such as the Treasurer of the Agenais, might be appointed to inquire into what he has said, and that the expenses and damages he has legitimately sustained might be deducted from the sums due from him for his bailiwicks, and that in the meantime there might be a cessation of demands on him.
