Nature of request
[Petition in 9 parts:]The people request:1) common of pasture in the marsh towards the sea as they formerly had;2) that they be given 30-40 acres of arable land;3) housebote and haybote in the wood of Coyt Plenewith.4) the pleas and perquisites of the king to repair the road, and the market so that people may come to the king's market;5) that the bounds and the liberty ought to extend within certain bounds [specified in full detail];6) that no market be held nearer than was formerly the case except those of Flint, Deganwy and Rhuthun;7) that many Welsh live outside the town and cause trouble;8) the king's will if he wishes to advance other towns than his own;9) that the king grant them his charter on this.1)
Nature of endorsement
Let them surrender their first charter.2) The king grants the liberties of the burgesses of Hereford except that the king wishes that the constable be mayor.3) The king grants them housebote and haybote within specified bounds.4) The king will ordain on the matter of pasture and bounds and the fair and market on his arrival.5) Similarly the king will ordain on the issues of the pleas of the town.

The petition is dated to? 1285-? 1295 on the basis of the dating given by Rees (Petitions Relating to Wales, pp.461-2). Coyt Plenewith may well be another variant of Coed y Newydd.
