The petition dates to 1270-1275 as a reference in the patent rolls shows that the late husband of the petitioner was still alive in May 1269 and serving the king in France, and a reference to the petitioner and her new husband, William Maufe, in relation to the toll from the gate of Chester can be found in the Close rolls for April 1275 (CPR 1266-72, p.342; CCR 1272-9, p.162).
