Nature of request
Arnold de Codico makes four petitions;1) He states that he has served the king and his father faithfully for twenty years and more in various judicial offices, and that when Anthony Pessaygne was Seneschal of Gascony he retained him on the council, and he was granted £100 annually for term of life for this, with other sums for expenses. He is now without office, but wishes to continue to serve the king on his council, and asks that he might have confirmation of payment or an allowance for the sums previously granted to him.2) He also requests compensation for losses and expenses incurred in defending the king's right and jurisdiction against the king of France.3) He also requests a command to the treasurer of Agen to pay him the wages due to him without delay, until the day when another judge is appointed in the Agenais in his place.4) He states that letters sent to him from the king have been maliciously hidden and destroyed, as he has learned, and asks the king to ordain what he wishes, that is, whether he would like Arnold to come to him at his own expense, or at the king's.
