[Petition in ten parts, six on the face and four on the dorse. A portion of the left-hand margin running the entire length of this roll has been lost and affects all entries and many of the responses:]1) Villa petitions on behalf of himself and his entire family, stating that despite their allegiance to the king and his father, the Mayor of Bayonne has [expelled] them from the town. He asks that they might be received into the king's special protection. He also asks that he might be maintained in the land near the gate in the street of the castle which the king's father gave his father.2) Bertram de Beranc requests justice in the matter of a death of which he claims he is innocent.3) Monte Guidone and Fulconis state that the Mayor of [St Emilion] has made them appear before him on an accusation of theft from one Galhard . . ., of which they are completely innocent, and that he has banished them from the town as a result. They appear to be asking that this banishment might be revoked.4) Barbers states that he has been banished from the realm of France and the Duchy of Guyenne by the people of Ameneu de Lebret for his service to the king and to . . . of Gascony, and has lost the profits and gains of his bailiwicks. He requests letters patent to the constable or his lieutenant to give him an allowance for his great costs and expenses for his men and for coming to England in the farm that he owes the constable, until he is returned to his bailiwicks in Gascony.5) The consuls, university and individual people of Clermont-Dessous ask the king to order the Seneschal of the Agenais to take them into the king's special protection, as they are in danger from certain nobles of the Agenais.6) Vidal states that when John de Ferrars was Seneschal of Gascony, he gave him help against disobedient and rebellious people in Bordeaux. He requests compensation for his losses, and that he might be taken into the king's especial protection.7) The consuls and university of Port-Ste-Marie, in the diocese of Agen, appear to complain of attempts to usurp the king's jurisdiction over various appurtenances of their town.8) The petition requests that irregularities in a case of banishment for a death be investigated, and any errors found corrected.9) Pierre and Jean Renaut state that the governor of Puynormand has deprived them of various goods and heritages, and ask that the seneschal of Gascony might be ordered to return these to them, if he finds that it is as they say.10) The consuls and university of Mezin make a request concerning certain rights and liberties granted to them by the late king.1)

He is to be ordered to inspect the petition and do to de Villa according to what he . . . in the petition the grace and favour that he considers ought to be done.2) He is to be ordered that on the contents in the petition he is to call those who ought to be called and do to the supplicant . . . of right and according to the laws and customs of those parts ought to be done.3) He is to be ordered to inspect this petition and to call those who ought to be called, and to revoke what has wrongly been done against Bertrand and . . .4) [Let it be ordered to the] constable of Bordeaux that he call those of the king's council and others who ought to be called and inspect the petition . . . contents such allowance be made as is considered reasonable.5) [Let it be ordered that] he view the petition and do what for the salvation, security and peace [of the consuls, university and people] is considered best to be done etc.6) [Missing].7) This petition is to be sent to the seneschal of Gascony and he is to be ordered that, when he has inspected it and diligently . . . king's defender and others whom it seems appropriate to call, in the presence of the parties to be warned on this . . . seems best to be done etc., and if any difficulty emerges because of which he cannot do this . . .8) This petition is to be sent to the seneschal of Gascony and he is to be ordered that, calling the council . . . business contained in this petition, and if he finds any error . . . he is to have it corrected in due form, according to the laws and customs . . . provided that the king does not incur any harm in the aforesaid through negligence . . .9) This petition is to be sent to the seneschal of Gascony and he is to be ordered that, calling the king's defender . . . to the places contained in this petition and inquire diligently into the contents . . . made to the complainants of their mobile and immobile goods, then he is to have the mobile goods restored . . . king and the king will do justice.10) [Missing].
