Warden and scholars of the house of Merton in Oxford.

Nature of request
The warden and scholars request that they be acquitted from the suit brought against them for the tenement called Battesin with a cellar, shops and solars adjacent which Wyllyot and other co-feoffees proposed to give to the house.
Nature of endorsement
The council has treated with the petitioners to pay a certain fine to the king for the requested grace, if it pleases him, and it seems to the council that it is well to be done for the honour of God and the profit of the king.
