Reference
SC 8/273/13650
Date
[1401-1403]
Description
Petitioners
John Topclif, one of the king's sergeant at arms.
Name(s)
Topclif, John
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Topclif requests that he is granted writs of liberate and allocate so that he can be paid the Michaelmas term portion of his 12d a day.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Note
The petition is dated to 1401-1403 as the office was originally granted to the petitioner on 25 November 1401 with the fee to be paid at the Exchequer, but this grant was vacated as the petitioner was subsequently granted to him with the fee to be paid from the issues of the county of York on 12 August 1403 (CPR 1401-5, p.28). The petition probably dates to some time between the two as the petition does not suggest a request for the change of the means of payment.
