Nature of request
Letter from the jurats and commons of la Reole to the King and council, stating that grievous reports have reached them of oppressions carried out against merchants of the Duchy of Aquitaine residing in England by Stephen de Abingdon, who claims to the be the King's butler. They ask the King to listen to the complaint of the merchants, and to provide a remedy, giving them compensation for their losses.

Note
CFR 1307-19 p.290 is dated 28 July 1316. The use of the phrase 'qui se gerit pro pincerna' (who claims to be the butler) would seem to suggest a date shortly after his appointment, although he seems to have occupied the office for some time.
