Nature of request
Mercer requests that the mayor of Bayonne and other officials be commanded to retain in their possession the goods of France as France died owing him gold for wine and wheat that he bought from him. And if the heirs have sold the goods then they be punished and their goods sold to pay him.
Nature of endorsement
He should have letters under the great seal in due form to the people of the king's council in those parts of Aquitaine and to the mayor and jurats of Bayonne upon the contents of the petition ordering them that if Mercer had possession of the goods by the judgment but was subsequently ousted from them as the bill purports then he is to be restored to his possession and suffered to enjoy the goods according to the judgment. If the goods were alienated contrary to the judgment then the council and mayor and jurats are to give Mercer recovery according to the law and customs upon the goods of the heirs.
