Nature of request
Gallard requests confirmation of the commune of Limeuil and Paunat which were given to his uncle by the king's father with the castle and bailiwick of Limeuil, as he is ready to enter into the King's faith and homage for them.
Nature of endorsement
The Lord King, having seen certain ancient letters is informed that the castle and castellany of Limeuil, with all its appurtenances is held and should be held from him under one homage, of which our lord the king of France, saving to him his grace . . . to him. And on account of this it is answered that the said Pierre de Gallard, as a good and faithful friend is to give his help to his people whom he intends to send on this to the said king of France to the end that the homage and resort for the castle with its appurtenances be surrendered to him; and when this is done the King will admit the said Pierre fully to his homage as he ought; with regard to that commune, the said Pierre is to let the king have seisin of the aforesaid commune, and when this has been done the king will give him grace of which he should deservedly . . .

The petition is dated to 1272-1307 as it is pretty clear from internal references that the petition is addressed to Edward I, it making reference to Henry III.
