Nature of request
[The petition is missing its left-hand edge.]Joneston requests letters to discharge him by indenture between him and those who interfere of . . . to be charged by the council of the king and his father, and to the treasurer to pay him the arrears of his expenses in the king's service overseas accomplishing the peace with the king of France. He requests that he can have letters attesting the reasons for his delay by the council in going to the apostolic court to sue his right concerning a prebend detained from him against apostolic orders and that he can have a licence to sue this business.
Nature of endorsement
The king sends a copy of this bill under his privy seal to the chancellor the 6th September . . . under the great seal to the treasurer, and he is to send it to the bishop of Norwich and his companions in Gascony. . . . by which the king sends another bill of the same matter . . . to his free tenants . . . answered that they will not discharge Joneston without the great council.

The petition is dated to? 1310 as it will date to this year if the petition was indeed enclosed with C 81/80, no.2203, though too little of the warrant remains to be certain.
