Nature of request
[Petition in 6 parts:]1) Asserie states that when the king received the bishop, on 17 April in his thirteenth year, the king took the wools 'of implement' for the following season, and now, when the bishop has died on 13 April, he is taking these wools again for the next season. He asks the king to command his will on this, having consideration for charity, and for one season or the other.2) He requests remedy as the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer have charged the bishop for the costs of the last going to Scotland when the bishop was in the king's service in the court of the pope.3) He requests that a remedy be ordained and the king command his will as the pope by his bull exempted him from the payment of the tenth granted in the first year that the bishop was promoted, but Asserie is charged for the sum in his account.4) He requests a remedy concerning a sum disallowed by the treasurer from the sums collected by the bishop and for his expenses when he was collector of first fruits.5) He requests that the residue of the certain sum of beasts that bishops are accustomed to receive on their creation from their predecessor, and which were not fully received by the bishop be taken to the king's use in part payment of the debts that the bishop owed to the king.6) He asks that justice be done to both sides in a dispute with the executors of John de Sandale, over hoggasters delivered to him by the executors for part of the implement of lambs due to him, and their refusal to make an allowance for an implement of lambs, so that he is not charged for things that he did not receive as the executors of Sandale.1)
