Nature of request
Letter to the King from Fossato, Casa, Rama, Beru', Bergondi, Barbe, Medici, Guicardi, Fulcherii and Moleria concerning the intrusions of the king of France's seneschal of Perigord into the Duchy and other matters that have been raised with the French, for which a remedy from the King is required. The bearer of these letters, Austencius Jordani, can give the King fuller information on these matters, and on certain peace treaties with those who say that they have the right to the castle of Blaye, which they would like the King to confirm. They ask him to give Austencius full credit and to expedite his business, and to speak his will and provide them with a remedy on these matters.

Note
Amaneu de Fossac was granted the governing of the office of Seneschal on 17 November 1318; the office of Seneschal was then granted to William de Montague on 20 November (Carte, vol. I, p.53). Fossac was granted the governing of the Duchy of Aquitaine on 6 November 1319 (Carte, vol. I, p.55). Maurice de Berkeley was made seneschal on 28 February 1320. This would seem to date this petition to after 1319.
