Tongart requests that he be granted peace and the king's charter as he broke open a chest in a castle of the Isle and stole a sword and leather gloves, and was caught with them and was put in custody in the house of Petit from which he escaped to the church and abjured the land.1)
Nature of endorsement
The petitioner cannot be helped in Chancery as he seeks a pardon of the king for an abjuration made for theft, therefore coram rege.2) The bailiffs of the Isle are to be commanded to inform the king of the manner and cause of the abjuration.3) Coram rege.
