Nature of request
Clare requests that the abbot of Tewkesbury be ordered to come to answer for a silver vessel which the petitioner's father entrusted to him to the use of the petitioner, and which he has lost, and also for other things in his keeping for the use of the petitioner.
Nature of endorsement
He should go to Chancery and there have a writ to bring the abbot before the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to answer to him upon the contents in the petition.

The petition is dated to 1295-1307 as it would seem that the petition dates to the period after the death of the petitioner's father in December 1295 and the creation of the petitioner as earl of Gloucester in 1307 after the death of Ralph de Monthermer who had been intruded into the title after the death of the petitioner's father.
