Nature of request
The officers of the Mint in the Tower of London state, as they have often done previously without being heard, that for lack of a good ordinance, gold and silver is not being brought into the country for them, but much of what there is present is being exported, and what is left is being weakened by the deceit of clippers and for other reasons. They request good counsel and a remedy on this, warning that if this does not happen, what was once 5 s. will only be worth 4s.
