[The petition is missing a portion from its right-hand side].The petitioners complain that Thomas de Normanvile, the King's steward beyond the Trent, is inflicting many oppressions on them, diminishing their estate. They ask that they might be returned to their former estate and that they might have a charter, so that their rights are not removed by the King's ministers in future.
Nature of endorsement
[An endorsement on the face appears to have been deliberately erased.][on dorse] Let the rolls of the Exchequer be searched, and if it is found that they did not give more than 8 [marks?] annually, then they should have the vill at fee farm for £10 per annum according to their petition.
