Nature of request
Bannowe and Newton request remedy as they and their companions were captured by the Scots on the ship that they had charged with wine in Gascony to take to Carmarthen, and when they were returning with their ransom they were arrested and imprisoned in Walsall and the money for the ransom divided between many of the people of the town. Meanwhile their companions remain in prison.
Nature of endorsement
16 October 4 [Hen. IV] it was agreed by the council that a writ be directed to the sheriff of Stafford to make those named in the petition to answer to the matter.
