Ufford requests remedy and a repeal of judgment concerning a plea of trespass prosecuted against him and his tenants and the prior of Butley by the earl concerning a case of wreck, as the inquisition into the matter and the judgment were rendered by Weyland, the chief councillor of the earl and against due process.

The petition is dated to 1289 on the basis of the dating given by Sayles which suggests that the complaint against Wayland was made after he was dismissed from the common bench in 1289, and was presented to the auditors of plaints appointed in that year (SCCKB, vol. II, p.cxxxviii (entry c)).
