[Petition in 5 parts, though the sense is difficult to recover because of the losses to the right-hand side of the document:]1) The people state they are greatly impoverished in their complaint by their too great hardship and request remedy concerning plaints brought against people by the bailiffs . . .2) A remedy is requested as the constables and bailiff of the castles of [take their goods and sometimes do not] pay for the moiety when they can find enough [to purchase in market].3) The bailiffs have introduced a new custom, for wrongs done, 2 s. for, but [there are plenty willing to serve] without taking anything from you.4) They request that in pleas between people of the country that they can have judgment according to the laws and customs of their country and the court.5) Kadogan and his nieces request remedy as they used to come to court for their land but are now charged rent.
