Nature of request
The commonalty complain of the following grievances:1) They are compelled to make suit to the king's mill which they did not do in the time of the prince of Wales.2) The foreign tenants of the nobles are compelled to the king's avowry which they were not under the prince.3) The tenants holding less than a carucate of land are distrained to do suit at the county court which they were not compelled to do before the king's time. They request that they be released from these. The heirs of Iorwerth ap Lewarch of the commote of Menai request that they may hold their ferry at Llanidan in the same manner as it was held under the princes as they are now compelled to pay 20s by Leominster.
Nature of endorsement

Note
The petition is dated to 1295-1302 on the basis of the reference to Hugh de Leominster who served as chamberlain of North Wales during that period. Rees suggests a narrower date of 1300-1302 but his reasons for this date range are not entirely clear (Petitions Relating to Wales, p.452).
