Note
The guard note to this petition suggests a date? c. 1370 and certainly before 1375 based on Newcourt's Repertorium. However Hennessy in the Novum Repertorium suggests a later date should actually be considered, as Alors seems to be the Geoffrey who held the benefice in 1385, and Kingsley, his successor was dead by 1396-7 (Hennessy, Novum Repertorium, p.296). It is difficult to decide about the relative merits of these conflicting datings, though the hand does appear to suit the period 1370-1395, and to be perhaps be earlier in the period. A date of 1370-1395 has been adopted until a more precise date can be confirmed.
