The petition is dated to c. 1295-c. 1320 partly on the basis of the hand, but also as Reginald de Grey and John his son, being the Greys of Ruthin died in 1308 and 1323 respectively. It is not entirely clear that the petition in referring to them means that both were still alive at the time of the complaint so that the petition may be after 1308.
