[The document is very badly faded and is largely illegible but appears to be a letter of the abbot and monastery to Edward III concerning the abbey's existence in the custody of the king because of internal disputes, and makes mention of protection and Hampton and Carles, those individuals being granted the custody of the abbey while it was in the king's hand].
