Nature of request
[Petition in 3 parts:]1) Luterell requests that the ministers, sheriff, mayor and bailiffs of Oxford and the masters and scholars of the university that they attend to him, and not to those who have elected another in prejudice of the king until the king's rights are tried.2) He further requests that the archbishop of Canterbury be commanded by the king's letters to forbid the errors uttered at Oxford by which the land is placed in peril.3) He further requests that he can have the king's licence to go overseas to the pope with his letter notwithstanding the false allegation made at Oxford.
