Nature of request
[Petition in two parts:]1) Burghasshe requests that he be relieved of the demand of the Exchequer concerning the lands of Lyeburn and also the land of Rotherfield as he was granted these for his costs incurred in the trailbaston to which he was assigned in Kent, Sussex and Essex and Leyburn recovered his lands before Burghasshe could have any profit.2) Burghasshe requests that it be ordained for his estate so that he can continue in the king's service as he was sent as messenger to several European courts and certain lands were ordained for his estate but these were taken without cause.

Let the Treasurer and barons be written to that they certify the king . . . and he will say his will.

The petition dates to c. 1329 as the petitioner received the commission of oyer and terminer referred to in the petition on 15 May 1328, and received a grant of the Leyburn lands on 22 February 1329 (CPR 1327-30, p.297; CFR 1327-37, pp.122-3). The petition must in all likelihood date to later 1329 or 1330.
