Nature of request
Margaret, late the wife of John of Holland, requests remedy, stating that her late husband died owing the king £204 12s 6d from the time when he acted as collector of the fifteenth and ninth. One part of John's lands have since descended to her, while the other has passed to Adam de Welle, but the sheriffs have attempted to distrain this debt solely from her share of the lands, since the king has pardoned Adam of his debt.
Nature of endorsement
The treasurer and barons are to be instructed to enquire into the lands which John held when he was the king's debtor, and every tenant of those lands, both the wife and the others, is to be burdened according to the portion of them which he holds.
